Guided walk through bushland restoration sites – Kuitpo

This event will guide attendees through 2 private bushland restoration sites which have been receiving funding for more than 6 years through the GWLAP to manage bushland weeds and currently being funded by the Native Vegetation Council through a Significant Environmental Benefit (SEB) grant.

Site 1 at Kuitpo was virtually impenetrable due to the blackberry, hawthorn, rose and feral pine prior to commencement of works by the GWLAP, skilled contractors and landholders. This site has seen some remarkable improvements over this time in the form of improved vegetation condition, accessibility and natural regeneration as a result of weed control works. This site houses more than 250 native plant species including a population of critically endangered Guinea flower (Hibbertia). This will be a loop walk of less than 1km.

Site 2 at Prospect Hill will be showcasing some past Gorse (Ulex europaeus) machine grooming within some high-value bushland along with some watercourse restoration works being undertaken at Prospect Hill within a cluster of more than 8 properties totalling over 800 hectares of bushland at Prospect Hill being collectively managed for conservation.

This will be relatively short loop walk from where we park off Milligan Road to the site and back to the cars.

Morning tea (juice/energy bar) and Lunch (rolls, tea and coffee) will be provided.

Water refill will be available but please bring your drink bottle.

Please wear sturdy footwear.
