Incentive Program

On-ground works The On-ground works program assists landholders to implement significant land management and land care projects upon their properties. Works undertaken by landholders include protection and enhancement of remnant vegetation, revegetation using local native plant species to enhance regional biodiversity, improve agricultural sustainability and productivity, and to manage dryland salinity, establishment of perennial pastures and fodder shrubs to manage salinity and waterlogging. Activities such as excluding stock from Lake Alexandrina and asrivers and streams to protect riparian and aquatic habitats and improve water quality, and improving agricultural production techniques to minimise the impacts of agriculture upon the wider environment and improve agricultural sustainability and production are also undertaken by landholders. The Goolwa to Wellington LAP currently runs three on-ground works programs: The Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges and Plains On ground Works Program This pogram has a range of incentives available for remnant vegetation protection and managment, watercourse protection, management, and revegetation, general large and small scale revegetation, establishemnt of perennial pastures and fodder shrubs, and the establiishment of windbreaks and shelter belts. Lakes Alexandrina and Albert on ground works program This program is designed specifically for landholders in the Lower Lakes and Coorong region across both the Goolwa to Wellington LAP and the Coorong District Council LAP areas. This program offers incentive payments for remnant vegetation and wetland protection and managment, revegetation activities on and around the lakes, redd and aquatic plant establishment, and actions to manage lakeshor erosion. For further information on these activities please contact Will Miles (8536 4476 or 0427 917 515) Lakes Alexandrina and Albeert fencing program This program of works targets fencing for the lakeshores of Lake Alexandrina and Albert, and the establishment of alternative waterpoints along fenced areas where livestock no longer have access to drink directly from the lake.
